I like your reference to "cultural communism." I'm amazed at how much of the leftist agenda today, cultural and political, is a manifestation of their desire to control all facets of life. And they don't try to hide it anymore--they're brazen about it.Dapper Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01230099347154360809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867112187125913607.post-28590996187791783422010-05-22T11:11:25.462-05:002010-05-22T11:11:25.462-05:00Barry, thanks for your kind words. In my lifetime I've gone from being a voracious reader of books (mostly novels), magazines, and newspapers to doing most of my reading on the internet. And my fiction reading now is almost non existent. I have a half finished novel started in March in my briefcase right now.Dapper Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01230099347154360809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867112187125913607.post-88406776992872294552010-05-21T19:20:31.732-05:002010-05-21T19:20:31.732-05:00Yes, those are "the source waters of the migh...Yes, those are "the source waters of the might river of modern day liberalism." I've read some people call it "cultural communism" because that is when left liberalism finally took off its mask and revealed its Marxist roots.

That was a most enjoyable excerpt. I should have bought your book ages ago but the last two fiction books that I bought are still sitting in the bathroom only partially read.Jouberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04970872086435575755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867112187125913607.post-82936087083436847942010-05-21T12:38:44.416-05:002010-05-21T12:38:44.416-05:00Buck, Thanks for the comment. I also voted H, Mc, and C and even Mondale (although I don't think he would have been that bad considering what we have in Demdom today).Dapper Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01230099347154360809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867112187125913607.post-68657401568547183242010-05-21T11:48:20.084-05:002010-05-21T11:48:20.084-05:00Sometimes I feel sorry for Young Libs who missed o...Sometimes I feel sorry for Young Libs who missed out on the '60s. A lot, if not most, are clearly wanna-bees who are nostalgic for a time they never knew.

As for me... I was VERY conflicted during those times, which is to say I was a career military kinda-guy with moderately liberal politics. While I voted for Humphrey-McGovern-Carter I did NOT buy into the Ho Chi Minh bits and other seriously radical shit. But I DID buy into the peace-love-dope thing without much thought about the second and third order effects that would come later. And now we're reaping the whirlwind.

As for your characters and talismans of the times... yup. "Right On, Bro."
