Although I used to watch him back in the '80s, I can't stomach him now.

We did see his interview set with Joseph Campbell, the guy who was an expert on the world's myths. It was a non-political set of interviews and very interesting. And Campbell was the star, not Moyers. But I haven't watched him since the early '90s. He's an insufferable smartass.

Buckley has been a hero of ours too even back in those days when we suffered from the academic strain of liberalism, which I see now as being similar to an STD.

Those early days of watching Buckley probably laid the ground work for our "conversion" to conservatism.Dapper Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01230099347154360809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867112187125913607.post-62264363594921251292012-02-08T14:44:21.637-06:002012-02-08T14:44:21.637-06:00If you view it, listen to Moyers...
Sorry, Dan......If you view it, listen to Moyers...

Sorry, Dan... that's just a bridge too far. I USED to watch Moyers "Journal" on PBS on Friday evenings but always turned it off about ten minutes in. I believe in listening to the other side, but I hate Moyers snide condescending GUTS.

I DID watch the Buckley vid, though. WFB, Jr. is still one of my heroes after all these years. My first introduc...Dan...excellent piece! Really!

My first introduction to Moyers was when I was in the 7th Grade at Rusheon Junior High School in Bossier City, LA.

My Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Ira Peak (God rest her soul...a wonderful woman who walked on crutches due to polio, and was a Pastor's wife) introduced some subject which I can not now remember.

But, I shall never forget her saying, "Now, you may have seen BILL MOYERS (the inflection in her voice let me know that she hated his guts) on television last night discussing this" (again, I can't remember what the subject was). Then she spent about 15 minutes explaining exactly why BILL MOYERS had gotten it all wrong.

Man! I wish I could remember the details of that class day lecture, and wish I'd have had a video camera handy in 1971...that old Saint of God ripped MOYERS a new one!

"It made a big impression on me, although I was a barefoot kid." (Catch that one, and winz you a prize).

I could tell you a lot more about Mrs. Peak...Her lectures are "seared in my mind."

Man...good teachers!!! I had a bunch of 'em. And, not just in the classroom, if you know what I mean.

Good post, Dan! Excellent!Andyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10945901944078164054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867112187125913607.post-47373344049212535252012-02-07T14:03:09.770-06:002012-02-07T14:03:09.770-06:00Ed, Sounds like you're beginning to feel bette...Ed, Sounds like you're beginning to feel better after that cold. Glad you're getting well. I used to enjoy some of Moyers' stuff too, but now he is a liberal shill. I like the way you phrased that comment at the end. That's the impression I get from some of them. They think we're sooo stupid and that we're just hoping and praying they'll impart some of their profound wisdom to us.Dapper Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01230099347154360809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867112187125913607.post-21894242067486988182012-02-07T13:44:19.672-06:002012-02-07T13:44:19.672-06:00There was a time back in the day when Moyers was j...There was a time back in the day when Moyers was just getting started that I enjoyed listening to him. Many of his comments were thought provoking. Now, I turn him off when he is coming on the tube.
Buckley, on the other hand went away too soon.
What a mind he posessed.
Do the libs on TV think the average American is just waiting for the next serving of bull$hit they put out as the ultimate truth? I sure hope not.Scooney Adrifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09014731857174355364noreply@blogger.com
