Redbone is an interesting character study as well as a musician with his own style. Reminds me of what New Orleans music used to be more like. Dapper Dan, dust off the Silvertone, Nashville is ready!
Hey Ed, N'awlins sound is a good descriptor for Redbone. After years on the Carson show, etc., nobody seems to know who he really is or where he's from. But he is smooth. As for the Silvertone, it does need dusting. And a good workout. At our next get together we'll have to get your banjo cranked up and we'll see if we can break a few strings.
I first saw Leon on SNL in the wayback (when it was still good). My friends and I looked at each other and said "WTF was THAT?" The general consensus was "Dunno... but I LIKE it!"

ReplyDeleteBrother Leon! Good addition to the lineup, Dan!
ReplyDeleteI think he's Canadian. He's definitely got some Frenchy/maybe coonass kinfolks. Smooth...without a doubt. Good show!
