Guitar Show: Christopher Parkening and David Brandon

I have an old vinyl of Christopher Parkening from the 80's. He's a ridiculously good guitarist in the classical mode. On this youtube he plays a duet of "Spanish Dance No. 1" with David Brandon. Are these guys in sync or what? Tight.

  1. This guitar duel could go on for quite a while. So many artists... so little time. Ain't YouTube GRAND?

I have a few Parkening albums but they're in the custody of Son Number Two; he has ALL my vinyl given there was no room for it in the RV when I "went mobile." There are precious few things I miss about my previous lives but my record collection is one. And my washer/dryer/dishwasher. ;-)

  2. Dan, I'm not going to take the time to look it up, so I may misspell it.

Those guys are like Ferrante & Teischer (I know I got that wrong...but you know who I'm talking about...piano guys), but only on the small stringed instruments.

That was beautiful. You guys...you, Buck, Paul, about 15 commentors on my little blog...y'all all know way more about this stuff than I do. I've never been more proud to be ignorant in my whole life...

  3. Andy, I do remember F and T (I ain't looking the spelling up either!) and it's an excellent comparison. As you say, they had the same kind of class and skill as these two guitarists, just on another instrument. And you're no more ignorant on this subject than I am. Really, I mean that. You've already introduced me to the Tuttle kids and some others I didn't know about. Plus, you've posted several good players that I'd forgotten about and it was very good to hear them again. But most importantly you are the one who picked up the challenge. Then Buck followed and both of you brought your readers along. I can't get my sitemeter to work yet but I'm sure I've had a few more hits because of it. And for that I thank you and Buck. It's great fun for me and I hope for you and Buck and everyone else. As the spirit moves us, I hope we'll continue the Show for quite awhile.

  4. Buck, Youtube rules. Let the good times roll!

Sorry about the old homeplace RV not having room for a washer and dryer and dishwasher. Now I know what that slight odor is when I visit your site.;-)
